Rory Coveney appointed Strategic Advisor to the Director General
|Noel Curran , RTÉ Director General has announced the appointment of Rory Coveney as his Strategic Advisor.|
The role will include the following broad responsibilities:
• Working on behalf of the Director General with the Executive Board and other senior management on the development and implementation of key strategic initiatives
• Developing and managing strategic external relationships on behalf of the Director General
• Advising the Director General on key developments in broadcasting policy and regulation in Ireland and abroad
Rory will take up his new role at the beginning of June. He will report directly to the Director General.
Rory is currently working as Senior Communications Manager as part of the Digital Switchover team in RTÉ Television. Rory joined RTÉ in 2007 as a Senior Manager within Corporate Communications. From 2002-2007 Rory worked in the Department of Foreign Affairs where he played a key role in both communicating and developing Ireland’s overseas development assistance programme. He was a lead author of Ireland’s first Government White Paper on Irish Aid published in September 2006. Before joining the Department of Foreign Affairs Rory worked for a number of years in website and multimedia development and design.
Rory holds an MA in Interactive Media from Dublin Institute of Technology, a Graduate Diploma in Business from the UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School and a BA in History from University College Cork.
